Volunteer Release & Waiver of Liability

By registering for volunteer service, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read this document carefully as it contains important information about your rights and responsibilities.

Assumption of Risk

As a volunteer, you understand and acknowledge that:

Your volunteer work may involve hazardous or physically strenuous activities that carry inherent risks.
You may be exposed to potential injury, death, or property damage from your activities, the activities of others, or environmental conditions where work is performed.
You voluntarily assume all risks associated with your participation in volunteer activities.

Your Responsibilities & Agreement

By participating as a volunteer, you agree to:

Follow Instructions

Follow all instructions provided by City officials and volunteer coordinators at all times.

Safe Equipment Use

Only use equipment and tools that you know how to operate safely and have been authorized to use.

Avoid Unprepared Tasks

Avoid any tasks or activities you feel unprepared for until you receive proper instructions and training.

Safety Precautions

Take all reasonable precautions to avoid injury to yourself and others, as well as damage to property.

Assume Full Risk

Assume full risk of injury, death, or property damage and release the City, its officers, directors, employees, and other volunteers from liability.

Waiver & Release of Claims

You hereby release and discharge the City, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives from all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, or expenses (including attorney fees) resulting from or arising out of your volunteer work, whether or not caused by the negligence of the City. This release includes but is not limited to personal injury, property damage, wrongful death, and any other claims that may arise.

Medical Treatment

You release the City from any and all claims for medical aid, treatment, or services that may be provided to you during your volunteer service. You understand that the City is not responsible for providing medical care or covering medical expenses.

Insurance Requirements

Health & Medical Insurance

The City does not provide health, medical, or disability insurance coverage for volunteers.
It is your sole responsibility to carry adequate medical and health insurance coverage.

Vehicle Insurance

If you drive a personal vehicle for City business while volunteering, you must maintain a valid driver's license and current auto insurance coverage that meets state minimum requirements.

Photographic Release

You grant the City permission to use photographs, video recordings, or audio recordings of you taken during your volunteer service for promotional, educational, or documentation purposes. This includes use in publications, websites, social media, and other City communications.

Duration of Release

This waiver and release remains in effect for as long as you volunteer with the City, including any future volunteer activities or events in which you may participate.

Legal Terms

Governing Law

This waiver and release shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California.

Severability

If any part of this waiver is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining portions shall continue to be valid and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law.

By registering for the DNA Cleanup volunteer service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all terms and conditions outlined in this document.
